About Me
I’m an Independent Writer and Journalist. I’ve covered the retail and consumer electronics industries since 1997 as a business writer for various trade magazines. I now specialize in these topics for both business and consumer audiences.
I regularly cover retail issues for AOL’s Walletpop.com and Dealnews.com — both personal finance Web sites with large consumer audiences — contributing multiple stories each week with retail news, money-saving shopping tips and advice.
I produce a regular technology section for Traditional Home magazine, contributing both print and complimentary online content. As their resident “Tech Girl,” I help readers understand home technology and how it fits into their lives and homes. I’ve written about home and portable technology for Better Homes & Gardens, blogged about home technology and design at DWELL.com and contribute to industry publications including HD Living, eGear and Consumer Electronics Daily.
I still cover the business of retail for License! Global, and write a Better Business column for the Photo Marketing Association’s monthly magazine.
I also teach Writing for Trade Magazines in the Journalism department of Columbia College Chicago in my spare time.
“Laura is one of those writers who you can turn to in a pinch and know that you’ll get quality, well researched and informed work every time. She’s great at taking complex or technical topics and making them not only easy to understand, but also enjoyable to read. She knows her industry well-enough to take a topic and run with it on her own.”
