I’m an Independent Writer and Journalist. I’ve covered the retail and consumer electronics industries since 1997 as a business writer for various trade magazines. I now specialize in these topics for both business and consumer audiences.
My blog — “The Point of Purchase” on Forbes.com — covers retail issues and current trends within the retail industry.
I regularly cover retail trends for Dealnews.com — contributing multiple stories each month with retail news, money-saving shopping tips and advice.
I still contribute regularly to business publications including Shopper Marketing Magazine (part of the Path To Purchase Institute); write weekly news items for Store Brands Decisions and Green Retail Decisions; and contribute feature stories to Retail Leader. My work has appeared in License! Global and the Photo Marketing Association’s monthly magazine.
I covered retail and shopping for AOL’s Walletpop.com, a personal finance Web site with large consumer audiences-and produced a regular technology section for Traditional Home magazine, contributing both print and complimentary online content. As their resident “Tech Girl,” I help readers understand home technology and how it fits into their lives and homes.
I’ve written about home and portable technology for Better Homes & Gardens, blogged about home technology and design at DWELL.com and contributed to industry publications including HD Living, eGear and Consumer Electronics Daily.
I also teach two classes — “Business to Business Magazine Writing” and “Blogging: Beyond the Basics ” in the Journalism department of Columbia College Chicago.
“Laura is one of those writers who you can turn to in a pinch and know that you’ll get quality, well researched and informed work every time. She’s great at taking complex or technical topics and making them not only easy to understand, but also enjoyable to read. She knows her industry well-enough to take a topic and run with it on her own.”
